Gift Card Scam

Attention Members:

We have been alerted by a new scam involving someone posing as a well-known company and demanding gift cards for payment. This could include an email or phone call alerting you that you have won a prize, sweepstakes or lottery. Some other scams include someone claiming to be from the government informing you there is a problem with your Social Security that requires immediate repayment. We have also heard of yet another scam that begins with a phone call from someone posing as law enforcement claiming there is a warrant out for your arrest.

To claim your prize or solve the problem, the fraudster will require that you to pay them in gift cards.

This is a scam!

No company or government agency will ever ask you to give money or gift cards in exchange for a refund. This is a scam to get money from you in the form of retail gift cards. Anyone who insists you pay in gift cards is ALWAYS a scammer.
