Smishing is a form of social engineering, where a fraudulent message is sent via SMS Text Messaging. The message may appear to be from a financial institution, requesting the recipient to click on a link or to call a telephone number. The goal of the text is to obtain personal identifying information.
How can 360FCU members protect themselves against Smishing?
- Be wary of any text message received from an unknown sender.
- Do not open unsolicited text messages.
- Do not click on any links provided in unsolicited text messages.
Remember, 360FCU will never solicit personal or private information via SMS Text Messaging.
